NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Three Wilmington University student-athletes have shined on the playing field last week, earning a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Reports as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Women's soccer's Loran Wyrough scored two game-winners to earn the Player of the Week while cross country's Ken Fontal's performance at the St. Leo Invite led him to the Male Runner of the Week. Men's soccer's Lorne Bickley continues to find the back of the net and was named the sport's Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week.

The women's soccer team went 2-1 last week, but both wins came against CACC opponents. Wyrough collected the game winners in each contest, first giving the team a 3-1 lead in the 79th minute against Georgian Court on Tuesday night. The Wildcats would hang on for a 3-2 victory. The redshirt junior then scored the lone goal of a 1-0 victory at Felician on Saturday night, finishing a header in the 32nd minute for her seventh goal of the season. Wyrough is now tied for second in the CACC with seven goals and tied for third with 15 points.

The men's cross country team placed fourth overall at the Saint Leo Invitational on Saturday as Fontal led the troops with a fourth place finish himself. IN the NCAA Division II National Preview meet, the senior ran the 8K course in 27:01.41, narrowly beating out his teammate Isaac Ndirangu by two seconds for fourth overall. He trailed the leader by 47.2 seconds in the race. It is the second week in a row that Fontal has led the Wildcats on the course.

The freshman started his week with an assist on the game-winner against Bridgeport in the 81st minute. He then led the Wildcats back from a 1-0 halftime deficit against Georgian Court with two second-half goals, scoring in the 72nd and 83rd minutes for the 2-1 victory.
