WATERBURY, Conn. - - Vinny Tasca made a sprawling save from point blank range in double overtime to preserve a 0-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tie for the Wilmington University men's soccer team at Post on Wednesday afternoon.

Tasca's save came in the 108th minute in the scoreless draw, giving each team a point in the CACC standings. With the tie, the Wildcats are now 9-2-1 overall, 5-1-1 in the CACC to move into a tie for second place. Post is now 5-5-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the CACC and in a tie for fourth place.

The Wildcats and Eagles each took 10 shots in the match, including two each in the second overtime period. Post earned more corners in the contest, 8-4, including 4-2 in the second half.

The Eagles hit the post with a shot in the 19th minute while the Wildcats outshot Post, 5-3, in the second half. Sam Jester put a shot on frame in the 76th minute before Elliot Johnson also put a shot on goal in the 88th minute, but both of which were saved by the Eagles' netminder Jon Hanlon.

After no shots were recorded in the first overtime, Jester put the first shot in the books in the extra periods in the 105th minute. Juan Bernal sent a corner into the box in the 106th minute, but Lorne Bickley's header sailed high to keep the game moving.

The Eagles then came down the field and put a shot on goal, but Tasca's point blank save kept the game scoreless. Post also had a shot that went wide at the 108:56 mark before a corner kick opportunity in the final minute of play. But the ball was cleared without a shot attempt, ending the game in a scoreless draw.

Tasca recorded four saves for the Wildcats while Hanlon made three stops for the Eagles.

The Wildcats return home this weekend when they host Concordia in another CACC matchup. The men follow the women's game with an approximate start time of 2:30 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
