ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team dropped its regular season finale, 3-1, at Dominican on Friday afternoon, slipping to the third seed in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament next week.

The Wildcats (11-5-1, 7-4-1 CACC) tied the match with a goal in the 31st minute, but the Chargers (6-11, 5-7 CACC) scored a pair of goals in the second half to take the victory on the final day of the regular season.

The Chargers opened the scoring in the 30th minute, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Fernando Gutierrez. The Wildcats tied the game 60 seconds later as Lorne Bickley tallied his 11th marker of the year.

But after the halftime break, the Chargers regained the lead with a goal in the 56th minute from Stefan Gualano before adding an insurance goal in the 71st minute by Sergio Monton.

The Wildcats led the Chargers, 17-13, including 10-7 in the second half, but could only put five of the shots on frame. Dominican's Steven Hegner recorded four saves in the match while the Wildcats' Vinny Tasca made three stops in the game.

The loss, coupled with Georgian Court defeating Concordia on Friday, drops the Wildcats to the No. 3 seed in next week's CACC Tournament. The Wildcats will host sixth seeded Goldey-Beacom in the First Round on Tuesday afternoon. The opening whistle is set for 2:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
