NEWARK, Del. - - In addition to six Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home games, the Wilmington University men's soccer team will host two nonconference contests at the WU Athletics Complex as head coach Nick Papanicolas announces the 2018 schedule.

The Wildcats are coming off a 10-6-3 campaign from a season ago, going 9-3 in the CACC to finish third overall with 27 points. Their season was cut short in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal round, falling to Post, 1-0. The CACC will have an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

The 2018 season begins on the road with a pair of games hosted by Millersville. The season opener is set for Thursday, August 30 at Millersville before they play the District of Columbia two days later on Millersville's field. The Wildcats then travel to West Chester and open CACC play at Caldwell before playing at the WU Athletics Complex for the first time in 2018.

The home slate opens with ECC Tournament qualifier NYIT on Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m.

Following a visit to Felician on September 15, the Wildcats have a chance to use their home soil to gain ground in the CACC with four straight home games. They will play Chestnut Hill, Nyack, and Holy Family before capping the 10-day stretch with 2018 Homecoming Festivities on Saturday, September 29 against Concordia at 3:00 p.m.

October begins with CACC trips to Jefferson and Post before closing out their nonconference scheduled with a home bout against reigning ECC Tournament Champion and NCAA Tournament Quarterfinalist LIU Post on Wednesday October 10.

The Wildcats host Bloomfield and Georgian Court in back-to-back games before hitting the road for their final two games of the regular season at Dominican and at Goldey-Beacom.

The goal is to be one of the top eight teams in the CACC during the regular season, with the top four earning a home game for the CACC Tournament First Round contest scheduled on Tuesday, October 30. The four winners advance to the CACC Semifinals on Friday, November 2 hosted by Post University in Waterbury, Conn. A champion will be crowned on Sunday, November 4 with the winner automatically earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
