Men’s Soccer’s Joe Bell Named Defensive Player of the Week

HEW HAVEN, Conn. – Men's soccer's Joe Bell was named this week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the Wildcats.

The junior defender had one assist in his two games played to help the Wildcats to a 2-0 record. His assist came off a goal scored by Will Stone in the Wildcats 2-0 win over Georgian Court this past Wednesday. Fredrick Bentdal made a pass to the opposite side of the net off a corner kick for Joe Bell to redirect back in front of the net for Will Stone to give the Wildcats some extra room in the 71st minute over the Lions.

Bell was a key central defender in Wilmington's past two games, as the Wildcats only allowed one goal. His assist was the first of his career.

Will Stone and Vinny Tasca were an important asset in those two games as they earned a spot on the weekly Honor Roll. Kate Tubo and Krysta Memis earned a spot on the weekly honor roll for the women's side, as Tubo had 17 saves with Memis' one goal and two assists. Jill Braunsberg had a triple-double when volleyball hosted Caldwell, with 27 assists, 14 digs, and 10 kills to earn the weekly honor roll.
