NEWARK, Del. - - For the fourth time in program history, the Wilmington University men's soccer team was selected to participate in the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, earning an at-large bid and the No. 5 seed in the 2018 bracket.
The Wildcats (14-2-4) last appeared in the National Tournament in 2015 when they defeated Adelphi in overtime, 4-3, as the No. 6 seed. This year, they head to Le Moyne to take on the No. 4 seeded Dolphins on Friday at 1:00 p.m. The winner will face top seeded Adelphi who earns a first round bye in the tournament.
The other half of the bracket will be played at No. 2 LIU Post starting on Thursday. Third seeded Mercy will take on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Champion and sixth seeded Post in the first round. The winner will face LIU Post in the second round.
Le Moyne finished 13-3-1 overall this year and in second place in the Northeast 10 Conference. But the Dolphins fell to American International in the NE10 Tournament Quarterfinals, 2-1, on Tuesday.
The Wildcats also advanced to the NCAA DII East Regional Tournament in 2009, 2013, and 2015, reaching the Second Round of the Tournament in each season.
