Will Stone Voted Second Team Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-American

NEWARK, Del. - - Senior midfielder Will Stone became the 10th Wilmington University men's soccer player to be named a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-American, being voted Second Team All-American by the nation's sports information directors.

Formerly known as Daktronics All-American, the D2CCA All-American Teams were announced yesterday ahead of the NCAA National Semifinals and Championship this weekend in Pittsburgh.

Will Stone (Littlehampton, England) is the 10th Wildcat to earn the organization's All-American status, but the first since the Wildcats had three student-athletes named D2CCA All-Americans in 2015.

Stone also started all 22 games for the Wildcats this year, being the playmaker in the middle of the field. He tied for the team lead with 12 goals and 14 assists, accumulating 38 points on the year. Stone secured his lone hat trick in the final regular season game of the year, scoring three goals to go with two assists, which tied him for the program record with eight points in a single game.

Fellow members from the East Region named D2CCA All-American include First Team honorees Lukas Ostermann (LIU Post) and Sergio Diaz (Post), Second Team honoree Alex Satrustegui (Southern New Hampshire), and Third Team honoree Mark Weber (Le Moyne). Fort Hays State's Santiago Agudelo was named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.

Stone joins a list of nine other Wildcats named Daktronics/D2CCA All-American: Sargbah Tarpeh (2009 First Team), Nickalus McDonald (2009 Third Team), Jamal Wiggins (2009 Third Team), Fatoma Turay (2009 Honorable Mention), Dave Dease (2009 Honorable Mention), Elton Joe (2013 Honorable Mention), Clifford Nwechefom (2015 First Team), Lance Berry (2015 Second Team), and Adrian Tash (2015 Honorable Mention).
