Undefeated Week Sees Men’s Soccer Move to No. 2 in United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll; Now 11th in National Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team had a 2-0 week last week, allowing the team to move up to No. 2 in the latest United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll and 11th overall in this week's National Poll.

The Wildcats defeated Jefferson, 6-2, and Caldwell, 5-2, last week while Mercy fell to New York Tech in overtime, allowing Wilmington to make the jump into second for the first time this year. Adelphi remains undefeated and in the top spot in the East.

Nationally, the Wildcats jump five spots to No. 11, the highest ranking the team has held since being No. 9 in 2009. Adelphi moved up one spot to No. 2 overall while Mercy falls eight spots to No. 17 this week. Post is also receiving votes to round out the East Region in the National Poll.

Post is fourth in the East Region while Bentley moves up two spots to No. 5 this week. Franklin Pierce drops a spot to No. 6 while Goldey-Beacom makes it three teams in the East Region, moving up one spot to No. 7 this week. Saint Rose dropped two spots to No. 8 while Le Moyne and Bridgeport hold steady at No. 9 and 10, respectively.

The Wildcats are on the road for two CACC matches this week, starting with a night game at Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. They will then head to Nyack on Saturday to round out the week.
