Six Student-Athletes Earn CACC All-Academic for Men’s Soccer

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a record breaking season, the Wilmington University men's soccer team had six student-athletes placed on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team for their performances on the field and in the classroom.

Among the award winners included senior defenseman, Joe Bell, senior midfielder Fredrik Bentdal, red- shirt junior Lorne Bickley, senior defenseman Elliott Johnson, senor defenseman Callum McHale, and senior midfielder Dimitrios Topouzlis.

Leading the way for the Wildcats this year was senior Dimitrios Topouzlis, who has a 3.99 cumulative grade point average, while majoring in finance. This is Topouzlis' third time throughout his career earning the All-Academic award. He also received this year's men's soccer Top XVI Award for the second consecutive year for having the highest cumulative GPA among the final four teams of the CACC Tournament.

Fredrik Bentdal also earned the All-Academic team award for the second time throughout his career. The senior maintained a 3.61 GPA throughout the season in the business management field. Callum McHale is also a two-time honoree this year, after compiling a 3.60 cumulative GPA, while majoring in communications.

Bell, Bickley, and Johnson all earned the All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers this season. Bell, majoring in sports management, has a 3.51 GPA, as Bickley maintains a 3.50 GPA in the same field. Elliott Johnson sustains a 3.54 cumulative GPA his senior season, while studying business management.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
