Men’s Soccer Lands Five on 2020-21 CACC All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Fifty (50) student-athletes on Wednesday were named to the 2020-21 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The 50 honorees represent 12 of the 13 CACC member institutions that have a varsity program in the sport.

The Wilmington University men's soccer team placed five on the 2020-21 CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team, led by a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA from sophomore goalkeeper Jackson Brandwene. Greg Melvin carries a 3.97 cumulative GPA in organizational management while seniors Shawn Genus (3.59 GPA in sports management) and Hakim Williams (3.75 GPA in business management) are also on the team. Rounding out the Wildcats on the All-Academic Team is sophomore Victor Molina (3.76 GPA in photography).

Georgian Court University led the way with 11 honorees, including Gianluca Cersosimo's team-best 3.96 cumulative grade point average in his major of finance. Post University was next with eight student-athletes being recognized, including Fernando Duque Gonzalez, who had the top GPA on his squad with a 3.94 in sport management. 

Wilmington University's Jackson Brandwene led the way on the all-academic squad with a perfect 4.0 GPA in his major of legal studies.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Eleven (11) of the honorees earned GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Eleven (11) of the honorees made the CACC Men's Soccer All-Academic Team for the second time.
  • Three of the honorees made the All-Academic squad for the third time.
