Wildcats Picked Second in 2021 CACC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University men's soccer team picked up 121 total points, along with four first place votes, to be picked second overall as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced its 2021 Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll on Monday.

The Wildcats, who has won the past two regular season championships in which they participated in (2018 & 2019), finished four points behind Post in second place. Post has won the past two CACC Tournament Championships they have participated (2018 & 2019). Neither Post or Wilmington participated in the spring 2021 COVID-19 shortened season.

The Eagles picked up five first place votes for their 125 total points followed by the Wildcats 121 points. Georgian Court and Holy Family tied for third overall with 98 points while the Tigers picked up one first place vote. Goldey-Beacom rounds out the Top 5 with 87 total points.

Dominican and Thomas Jefferson tied for sixth overall with 82 points while the Rams picked up the final first place vote along the way. Nyack placed eighth with 66 total points, rounding out the predicted 2021 CACC Tournament field.

Caldwell earned 51 points for ninth place while Bloomfield and Chestnut Hill collected 45 points each to tie for 10th. Felciian rounds out the Preseason Coaches Poll with 24 points.

Concordia won the 2021 Spring CACC Tournament but unfortunately closed its doors following the 2020-21 academic school year.

The Wildcats' 2021 season begins on Thursday, September 2 when they host Bentley at the WU Athletics Complex. Kick-off starts at 4:00 p.m. in Newark.
