Once back in Newark, Cope started coaching again for Papanicolas in 2008, coaching Wildcat goalkeeper Duhan Malali to a Second Team All-CACC and Third Team All-Region performance in 2009. Goalkeeper Frank Hall was named Second Team All-CACC in 2015 as well. He has also helped coached 26 Wildcats to All-CACC honors, including two CACC Player of the Years, a CACC Defensive Player of the Year, 14 All-Region performers, and nine All-Americans.

Cope has currently obtained his USSF ‘E’ License and an NSCAA Level III Goalkeeper Diploma.

During the 2016 summer, Cope was a part time assistant on the Harrisburg City Islanders coaching staff. The team plays in the United Soccer League (USL), the third tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.
