LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - The Wilmington University softball team is making their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament after capturing their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship in the past three seasons. The Wildcats are the eighth seed in the tournament and will play in the East I Bracket hosted at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

The Wildcats (31-21) open the Regional Tournament facing the region's top seed and CACC foe, Caldwell, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

The Wildcats ran the table in the CACC Tournament as the conference's number three seed. The team defeated No. 6 Concordia, 1-0, No. 7 Bloomfield, 10-5, No. 4 Holy Family, 9-2, and No. 4 Holy Family again, 1-0, in the CACC Tournament Championship game.

The 20 wins in the CACC are a new program record for the Wildcats, besting their record of 19 set in 2015. It is the third time in the last four years the team has won 30 or more games, with the record set at 34 wins (2013 and 2015).

Scouting the No. 8 Wilmington University Wildcats:

The Wildcats used strong pitching efforts and timely hitting to sweep through the CACC Tournament. Sophomore pitcher Danielle Bradley was named the CACC Tournament MVP by 17.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and only allowing two unearned runs. Meghan Brown was named to the All-Tournament Team in hitting solo home runs in the team's 1-0 victory over Concordia and the team's 1-0 victory over Holy Family in the championship game.

Senior Taylor Rizzotte and junior Becca Stanley were also named to the All-Tournament Team in leading the Wildcats to the 4-0 weekend.

Brown leads the Wildcats with a .336 batting average, collecting 37 hits with four doubles and three home runs. She has also knocked in 20 runners while scoring 19 runs herself. Stanley leads the team with six homers on the year, hitting one against Bloomfield in the CACC Tournament. Colby Wyatt leads the team with 26 RBI on the year, totaling 10 doubles, two triples, and four homers on the year.

Senior Cambria Ziemba tied the program record for career hits by going 2-for-3 in the Championship Game against Holy Family. She now has 200 career hits, tying the mark set by Lindsay Watson from 2007-2010. Ziemba is also second in program history with 116 career runs scored. She is hitting .283 with six doubles and a triple this year.

Bradley leads the pitching staff with a 1.52 earned run average, pitching 115.1 innings with an 8-7 overall record. She has totaled 89 strikeouts on the season, averaging 5.40 strikeouts per game. Caitlyn Whiteside is 12-6 with two saves on the year, picking up a win and a save in the CACC Tournament. She carries a 1.99 ERA into the Regional Tournament in 98.1 innings pitched and averages 4.70 strikeouts per game.
