Brooklyn Lachette and Rosa’Lynn Burton Earn CACC Softball Player of the Week Accolades

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University softball team capped the regular season on a five-game winning streak and had a pair of student-athletes represented on the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Report, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Senior pitcher Brooklyn Lachette tossed a pair of complete game shutouts to earn CACC Pitcher of the Week while freshman outfielder Rosa'Lynn Burton hit .688 in four games to be named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

Lachette (Aldan, Pa./Archbishop Predergast) went 2-0 in 12 innings pitched last week, striking out seven batters while not giving up a walk. She also helped extend the pitching staff's scoreless streak to 34.1 consecutive innings with her two shutouts.

The senior started the week by spinning a complete game shutout, 7-0, in game two at USciences on Wednesday. She struck out four batters while only allowing five hits for her second shutout of the season. She then came back and tossed five more scoreless innings in game one against Nyack on Senior Day, striking out three while only allowing three hits. It is the first time in her career that she has been named the CACC Pitcher of the Week.

Burton (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) continues her impressive freshman season, batting 9-for-14 with a triple, four RBI, and eight runs scored in the final week of the regular season. It is the fourth time she was named CACC Rookie of the Week this season.

The freshman started her week by going 2-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored in game one at USciences. She then finished the doubleheader off by going 4-for-4 with two RBI, three runs scored, and three stolen bases in the nightcap against the Devils. She went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored in game one against Nyack on Senior Day before finishing the regular season with a 2-for-3 performance, adding two more stolen bases. She went 6-for-7 on the base paths for the week.

Caldwell's Marisa Monasseri was named the CACC's Player of the Week to round out the weekly awards.

Baseball's Dan Hyatt was named to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll after hitting 9-for-18 in five games for the Wildcats.
