GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - - Continued rainfall has forced the NCAA Division II East Region I Tournament to postpone play on Saturday. The 8th seeded Wilmington University softball team will now square off against top seeded and host Adelphi on Sunday, May 14 starting at 11:00 a.m.
The Wildcats won two elimination games on Friday to advance to the East Regional I Championship Round for the first time in program history. The Wildcats lost to Adelphi on Thursday to start the tournament and fall into the loser's bracket, 5-3.
The Wildcats need to defeat Adelphi twice on Sunday to advance to its first Super Regional series in program history.
