Caitlyn Whiteside Picked 8th Overall in 2019 ASBA Draft by the E1 Pro Ballers

MOBILE, Ala. - - With the eighth pick in the 2019 American Softball Association (ASBA) Draft, Wilmington University softball alum Caitlyn Whiteside was drafted by the E1 Pro Ballers to extend her softball career into the professional ranks.

The ASBA is in its second year as a league and features four professional teams out of Satsuma, Alabama, an immediate suburb of Mobile. All games are played at Satsuma High School and can be followed live on the ASBA Network.

Whiteside was the eighth overall pick, going to the E1 Pro Ballers in the second round of the draft on Wednesday night.

The right-handed pitcher finished her career as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, the CACC Tournament MVP, and a Second Team All-East Region member by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

Whiteside set a new single season program record with 20 wins this year, going 20-9 overall in 222 innings pitched. In 36 appearances (33 starts), she collected 112 strikeouts and accumulated a 2.14 ERA. She is also leaving Wilmington University as the all-time lead in a number of categories, including victories (69), innings pitched (678.2), appearances (134), and shutouts (27).

Whiteside will play for first year head coach Kelsey Cooper, a two-year player at West Alabama. The other three teams in the league are reigning champions Moh-BEEL! USA, Performance Lab, and The Field.
