NEWARK, Del. – After a record breaking season last year, the Wilmington University softball team looks to keep its reign as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champions, as Head Coach Mike Shehorn announces the upcoming 2020 schedule.

The women's team is slated to play in 44 regular season contests this year, including their annual trip down to the Sunshine State for a week of nonconference play. Last season, the Wildcats came back and defeated top seeded Georgian Court to secure the CACC crown for the first time since the 2016 season.

Wilmington will begin the 2020 campaign down in Clermont, Florida, where they will play in 10 games from March 1-6, eight of which are against teams that advanced to the NCAA Regional phase, if not further last season. There, they will start with West Region participant Western Oregon, last year's NCAA Division II National Semifinalists Grand Valley State, along with doubleheaders at Rollins, and South Region participants Tampa, Saint Leo, and the South Region #2 Champion Florida Tech.

When the Wildcats return home they start with five away doubleheaders, including nonconference opponents Shippensburg and Pace. On Tuesday, March 17 the women will begin CACC play when they travel to cross-town rival Goldey-Beacom, before following up their road trip against Dominican and Atlantic Super Region Champion and National Tournament participant West Chester.

On March 25, the Wildcats will have their home opener at Asbury Field when USciences comes to New Castle for a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. They will remain home for the rest of March by taking on CACC foe's Felician and Post, before ending the month against East Region participant Adelphi on the 31st.

WilmU will cap their five-game home stand on Thursday, April 2 when Holy Family travels to Asbury Field, before going on the road to take on Nyack on April 4 and CACC Runner-Up and East Region participant Georgian Court on April 8.

The final two home games for the women will be on Tuesday, April 14 against Concordia, and Saturday, April 18 against the Bloomfield Bears. Wilmington will end their regular season at Caldwell on Saturday April 25.

Starting on Thursday, April 30, the first round of the CACC Tournament will begin, which will be held at the CACC Festival at Georgian Court. The final two days of play will be on May 1 and 2 with a winner crowed on the final day.
