WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - Annie Davila became the program's all-time leader by hitting her 17th career home run on Wednesday, but the Wildcats dropped a nonconference doubleheader at West Chester, 7-5, and 8-0, at the WCU Softball Field.

GAME 1:

The Wildcats (5-5) jumped out in front in the early going, but the Rams (12-4) scored six straight to take over the contest.

The Rams scored first with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Wildcats took the lead in their next at bat. Annie Davila singled, Alyssa Velasquez walked, and Danielle Hess loaded the bases with a single before recording an out. Isabella Eleazar tied the game with a fielder's choice RBI and Haley Downing reloaded the bases with another single. Arianna Millan doubled in two runs, giving the Wildcats the 3-1 lead.

Annie Davila stepped up to the plate in the top of the third inning and made Wilmington history. She belted a 1-0 pitch over the fence in center field for the 4-1 lead. It was her 17th career homer, breaking a three-way tie with Lindsay Watson (2007-10) and Nicole Gebhart (2008-11) to set a new all-time program record.

With two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the third, the Rams put together a string of six straight hits, including two doubles, totaling in five runs and a 6-4 lead for the home team. They added another two-out RBI single in the fourth inning, taking a 7-4 lead.

The Wildcats left two on in the fifth and one runner in the sixth, but eventually brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh.

Alyssa Velasquez went to the opposite field with two outs for a solo homer, and Danielle Hess worked a two-out walk to bring the tying run to the plate. But Isabella Eleazar's drive to the gap in right center was flagged down on a sliding play to end the game, 7-5.

Haley Downin went 3-for-3 in the game while Annie Davila and Danielle Hess had two hits each. Arianna Millan led the team with two RBI.

GAME 2:

The Wildcats left the bases loaded in the top of the first and it was all Golden Rams from there, as they won, 8-0, in five innings.

Haley Downin singled to start the game, and two walks and two outs later, the Wildcats had the bases loaded. But Courtney Dellinger's attempt was smothered by the third baseman.

The Rams started the scoring in the bottom of the second, again with two outs. An RBI single, a triple, and another single plated three runs for the early lead.

With two on in the fourth, an RBI single made it 4-0 and then two errors and another single and the Wildcats were down, 7-0. A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth ended the contest, 8-0.
