East Region #2 Softball Championship Game Halted, 1-1, After Four Innings; Resumes Sunday

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - Crowning an NCAA East Regional #2 Championship will have to wait until Sunday, as rains have forced the postponement of the championship between the Wilmington University softball team and Georgian Court in the middle of the game on Saturday.

The Wildcats and Lions are knotted at 1-1 after four full innings of play. The Lions struck first with a run in the top of the fourth and the Wildcats answered in the bottom half, but had the bases loaded with one out in the inning and could only scratch the one run across.

The halted game will be picked up with the start of the fifth inning beginning at 10:30 a.m. If the Wildcats win the game, they are crowned NCAA Division II East Region #2 Champions and move on to the Super Regions at Adelphi next week. If Georgian Court wins the halted game, a second game will be played with the winner of that game moving on to face Adelphi in the East Super Regional.
