Wildcats Ranked No. 24 in 2022 NFCA Final Division II Top 25 Softball Coaches Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - The East Regional finalists Wilmington University softball team ended its historical 2022 season by being ranked No. 24 in the final 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Softball Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats were one game away from a berth into the NCAA Division II National Championships, winning game one from Adelphi in the Super Regionals. The Wildcats ended their historical season with a 38-20 overall record, the second most wins in program history.

Although the Wildcats didn't have a chance to capture the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship as it was called due to weather, the Wildcats earned an at-large bid into the 2022 East Regional Tournament. They went 3-0 in the weather delayed sub-regional to move onto their first ever Super Regional best-of-three series.

It is the first time all season the Wildcats earned a National Ranking. The Wildcats finished just above Alabama-Huntsville to round out the Top 25. National Champion Rogers State claimed the top spot in the final national poll, followed by Cal State Dominguez Hills, the only other team not ranked all season, at No. 2. Adelphi finished the year ranked No. 10 after representing the East in the National Championships.
