Cara Stecher begins her fourth season with the Wilmington University Softball program in 2017, primarily assisting with the pitching staff.

Stecher is a 2013 graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., where she was a three year member of the Dukes softball team. During her career at JMU, Stecher collected an overall record of 24-18 inside the circle.  The Dukes made two appearances in the CAA Conference Tournament during her tenure. She ranks in the top ten in career wins, career appearances, saves, games started as a pitcher, and innings pitched in the JMU record books. She was a CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award Recipient and a JMU Athletic Director Scholar Athlete. As a freshman, she collected CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

Prior to her collegiate career, Stecher attended Caravel Academy in Bear, Del., where she led the team to four DIAA State Championship finals appearances, including a state championship title in 2006. At Caravel Academy, she was a three time First Team All-State selection in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She was selected as the News Journal’s Delaware State Player of the Year in 2009.

Stecher competed on the Jersey Intensity Gold travel team where she led the team to a seventh place finish at the ASA Gold Nationals in 2009 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was also a member of the 2006-2007 Team New Jersey Gold showcase team.  Stecher assisted in instructing pitchers under the Diamond Fast Pitch organization for six years prior to joining the Wilmington University coaching staff.

Stecher is a New Castle, Del. native and is currently enrolled in the Wilmington University Graduate program pursing a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.
