Now in his seventh season, James Brittingham joined the Wilmington University softball program for his first season as an assistant coach in 2015. James brings over 15 years of coaching softball, baseball, and basketball to the Wildcat coaching staff.

Brittingham assisted in coaching and developing the Caesar Rodney High School softball team from 2011-2012, bringing them to one of the top high school softball programs in the state of Delaware. He has also coached Camden-Wyoming Little League Baseball and Softball since 1999, leading his 2002 Camden-Wyoming Little League Baseball team to a Majors Division League Championship. He also coached the 1998 District Girls Softball team to the Pat Knight Championship.

Aside from softball and baseball, Brittingham aided the Caesar Rodney High School girls baseball team from 2002-14, and coached at the Dover Parks & Recreation from 1998-2001. During his time at Caesar Rodney, he has led his junior varsity girls to four Delaware State Championships.

Outside athletics, Brittingham worked as a correctional officer at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, Del., from 1982 to 2014. He also served as a specialist in the United States Army from 1978 to 1981.

Brittingham currently resides in Dover, Del.
