NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A total of 34 student-athletes were named to the 2020 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Track and Field All-Academic Team, which included two male athletes from Wilmington University.
Senior James Kennedy and graduate student Daniel Loyo headlined the 2020 All-Academic Team for the Wildcats. Kennedy was just shy of a 4.00 cumulative grade point average, finishing with a 3.98 GPA studying environmental science and policy. Loyo earned a spot on the All-Academic team for the second time in his career after maintaining a 3.96 GPA while earning his master's degree in marketing management.
Jefferson's Tyler Savage was the lone honoree to achieve a 4.00 cumulative grade point average while studying biology. James Kennedy was one of three student-athletes to achieve a 3.98 GPA, which was the second highest cumulative GPA on the list. Seven student-athletes, including Daniel Loyo achieved a 3.90 GPA or higher on the list.
USciences led the way with the most honorees, placing six student-athletes to the list, as Jefferson and Georgian Court both placed four honorees each.
Eight recipients on the list were named to the All-Academic Team for the third time throughout their careers, while nine honorees earned the award for a second time.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution. Requirements for eligibility for the all-academic teams were slightly altered this spring only, as the 2020 spring season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
