Matt Hibbert Named CACC Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Freshman sprinter Matt Hibbert ran his way into being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office.

Competing at the Coach P. Invite at Moravian College, Hibbert (New Castle, Del./William Penn) won both the 100-meter and 200-meter events, beating out teammate Tyler Levons in each event.

He ran a personal best in each event as well, winning the 100-meter race with time of 11.14 second while winning the 200-meter event with a time of 22.66. Hibbert was also the third leg of the 4x200-meter relay team, crossing the line in 3:49.38.

Junior thrower Joshua Varghese once again earned a spot on the CACC Honor Roll for his efforts in the field, winning the hammer throw, placing second in the shot put, and third overall in the discus last weekend.

The Wildcats will head to Philadelphia this Saturday, competing in the Philly Mets at Franklin Field in place of the famed Penn Relays.
