Track & Field Boasts Nine Wildcats on 2021 CACC All-Academic Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Ninety-Eight (98) student-athletes on Friday were named to the 2020-21 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Track & Field All-Academic Teams, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Sixty-two (62) women and thirty-six (36) men break down the two All-Academic Teams.

The Wilmington University track and field program placed nine student-athletes (five women and four men) on the 2021 CACC Track & Field All-Academic Teams. The women were led by a pair of two-year honorees in Grace Slate (3.80 cumulative GPA in marketing) and Jonna Maddox (3.63 cumulative GPA in criminal justice). First year honorees include CACC 10K champion Alexa Crowell, third place finisher in the CACC hammer throw Viviana Caamano, and Krysta Memis (perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA in legal studies).

On the men's side, the Wildcats were led by Logan Strouse's perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA in business management. Other first year honorees include Mitchell Coll, Matt Hibbert, and James Keenan.

Holy Family University led the women with 12 honorees, including Shania La Maitre's team-best 4.00 cumulative undergraduate grade point average in her major of biology/pre-physical therapy. Georgian Court University, which won the 2021 CACC Championship, and University of the Sciences, were next with nine honorees apiece. GCU's top mark was 4.0 by Rachel Pausz (accounting), and USciences was led by Sabrina Abbruzzese, also with a 4.0 GPA, in her major of biomedical sciences.

Wilmington University's Krysta Memis was the other student-athlete on the team to earn a perfect 4.0 GPA in her major of legal studies.

University of the Sciences led the men with nine honorees, including Joseph San Fillipo's team-best 3.98 cumulative undergraduate grade point average in his major of pharmaceutical and healthcare business. Thomas Jefferson University was next with six student-athletes being recognized, including Owen Bradley, who had the top GPA on his squad with a 4.0 in pre-medical studies.

Bradley was one of two student-athletes on the academic team to post perfect 4.0 GPAs, as Wilmington University's Logan Strouse was the other honoree to do so in his major of business management.

ADDITIONAL NOTES (WTF):

  • Ten of the honorees earned GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
  • Twelve (12) of the honorees made the CACC Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team for the second time.
  • Seven of the honorees made the All-Academic squad for the third time.
