Track and Field Competes at 15th Annual All-American Meet at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - - The Wilmington University Track & Field Team took part in the 15th Annual All-American Meet hosted by Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member East Stroudsburg University.

Men

Bradley Spencer becomes the first hurdler in program history to clock under a 16-second 110-meter-high hurdle time. Spencer won the event with a time of 15.51 seconds. Shemar Parker finished with a time of 17.13 seconds, good for 13th place. In the 400-meter hurdles, Shemar Parker finished in third place with a time of 57.26 seconds. Spencer finished in sixth place with a time of 59.47 seconds.

Dan Wyshinski demolished his season-best by taking over 14 seconds off his 5,000-meter time. Wyshinski earned first place in the event with a time of 15:41.25. The performance of the day was by Hayward Boutte Jr. in the 5,000-meter run. Boutte Jr. only had 10 seconds to work within the last 50 meters to qualify for the CACC Championships. Boutte Jr. with the whole team cheering him on was able to cross the line at a final time of 16:58.05, a second under the minimum qualifying time.

Michael Dowd was the lone 1,500-meter runner on the day. Dowd's time of 4:28.05 took 8th place overall.

Michael Dowd and Logan Strouse turned in their season-bests in the 3,000-meter run. Dowd finished in 14th place with a time of 9:35.67 and Strouse was right behind him with a 15th place finish and a time of 9:40.38.

Akeel Blake registers his first open 400-meter time on the season. Blake finished with a time of 51.61, which qualifies him for another event in the CACC Championships. Blake finished second in the long jump by again being able to clear the seven-meter mark with a best leap of 7.03-meters.

Matthew Hibbert goes back-to-back weeks winning the 200-meter dash. Hibbert clocked a time of 22.34 seconds. Taf Bunu finished in fifth place with a time of 22.63 seconds, his best on the season.

Hibbert turns in the best time for the Wildcats in the 100-meter dash. Hibbert finished with a time of 11.09 seconds, finishing him in fourth place. Taf Bunu came in right behind Hibbert with a seventh-place finish time of 11.20 seconds. James Keenan finished with a time of 11.71 which was 26 out of 55 sprinters.

Shemar Parker finished third in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.75 meters.

On the throwers side, Josh Varghese started the day with a fourth-place finish and a season-best toss of 14.41 meters in the shot put. Mitchell Coll finished in 6th place out of 26 in the javelin throw with a toss of 42.29 meters. Varghese tossed a 45.15-meter throw in the hammer throw and a best toss of 44.65 meters in the discus throw.

Women

Lina Boussif started the day in the 5,000-meter run. Boussif had a career-best in the event with a finishing time of 22:05.88.

Layla Hunt crossed the line at 16.09 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, which placed Hunt in fourth overall. Kharonay Brown finished with a season-best in the event with a time of 16.95 seconds. Layla Hunt also finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.07. Lina Boussif also competed in the 400-meter hurdles and finished 6th in her heat and 17th overall with a time of 1:18.86.

Brown also hit a season-best mark in the 400-meter run. Brown finished with a time of 1:01.43, a 12th-place finish. Jalah Turner was seconds behind Brown with a 1:04.29.

Brown again hit a season-best in the 200-meter dash by .05 seconds. Brown finished with a time of 27.23 seconds. Jalah Turner rounded the turn with a time of 28.33 seconds.

Layla Hunt leaped the furthest for the Wildcats with a 4.72-meter leap and an 11th-place finish. Angel Oliver also leaped over four meters, with her best jump of 4.24-meters.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Kharonay Brown, Lina Boussif, Layla Hunt, and Jalah Turner turned in the best time on the season for the Wildcats with a time of 4:24.18. The time finished off the Wildcats' day with a seventh-place finish in the event.

Up Next

The Wildcats have another busy week ahead of them. The men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams will compete in the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29. Then the whole program will travel to Shippensburg University to partake in the Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday, April 30.
