Wildcats Wrap Up Season UMO Last Chance Meet

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - - The Wilmington University Track & Field competed in their last competition of the year as they tried for personal best and goals of hitting NCAA Provisional Marks at the University of Mount Olive Last Chance Meet.

The meet started in the early afternoon with the javelin throw at 1:00 PM. Mitchell Coll threw a best of 46.74 meters after throwing back-to-back days. Coll's personal best of the year was 49.40 meters.

Up next was the hammer throw for Josh Varghese. Varghese's best distance was 46.81 meters. Varghese's best toss of the year came at the 17th Annual Paul Kaiser Classic of 47.29 meters.

Akeel Blake only attempted two jumps on the day in the long jump. His best leap was his first attempt at 6.57-meters. Blake's best jump of the season came yesterday at the UMO First Chance Meet of 7.25-meters.

The 4x100 meter relay team started with Tyler Levons in the blocks, who handed it off to Bradly Spencer down the straightaway. He handed it off to James Keenan and the anchoring leg was Matthew Hibbert. Hibbert crossed the line at 42.71 seconds. The best time for the Wildcat's 4x100 relay team, came with this same core, yesterday at the UMO First Chance Meet 42.17 seconds.

In the 100-meter dash prelims, both Matthew Hibbert and Tyler Levons qualified for the 100-meter finals. Hibbert ran a 10.92 second 100-meter in the prelims and a 10.90 second run in the finals. Levons ran a 10.98 second prelim time and scratched from the 100-meter finals. James Keenan ran a season-best in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.28 seconds, finishing in 10th. Bradley Spencer was clocked at 11.45 in the 100-meter dash today. Spencer's best time of the year came at the Paul Kaiser Classic, where he ran an 11.44 second 100-meter. Hibbert's best 100-meter time on the season came at the Temple Invitational, running a 10.85 second time. Levons's best 100-meter dash time came at the Temple Invitational, where he ran a time of 10.67 seconds.

Matthew Hibbert sprinted for a season-best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.22 seconds, the fifth-best time. Bradley Spencer ran his first 200-meter dash this season and Spencer clocked a time of 23.56 seconds.

Josh Varghese finished out the day in the discus throw. Varghese's best toss of the day was 44.50 meters, good for fifth overall. Varghese's best toss in the discus of the year was 45.35 at the Oscar Moore Invitational.

The trip down to Mount Olive, North Carolina, concludes the Wilmington University Track & Field's 2022 season. The Wildcats enjoyed 15 new school record holders for the men's team and four new school records for the women's team.
