Wilmington Women’s Basketball Dropped at Bloomfield, 82-52, to Start 2015 Schedule

The Bloomfield College women's basketball team went on a 14-2 run to start the second half and never looked back, as the Bears defeated visiting Wilmington University, 82-52, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action at The Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats (3-10, 1-5 CACC) cut the deficit to 38-24 going into the halftime break, but the Bears (6-5, 4-1 CACC) sprinted out of the locker room with a 14-2 spurt over the first 5:49, which eventually led them to snap the Wildcats' two-game winning streak.

A 9-0 run in the first half opened a 12-point lead, 16-4, for the Bears before consecutive jumpers by Cari Callaway and Tenicia Spence brought the Wildcats back to within eight with 9:39 to play in the first half. But the Bears regrouped and eventually opened an 18-point lead with 2:23 to play, their largest of the first half.

The Wildcats scored the final four points of the half as Taylor Carter hit a pair of free throws and Ebonee Dixon put home a layup at the buzzer to bring the game to the 14-point halftime score.

Following the break, the Bears used their 14-2 run to take a 52-26 lead with 14:11 remaining in regulation. The Wildcats went on an 8-0 run of their own halfway through the second half to cut the deficit to 17 following a steal and a fastbreak layup by Jocelyn Rodriguez, but it wouldn't be enough for the Wildcats. The Bears took as large as a 32-point lead in the second half before settling on the 82-52 final.

Jasmine Lee paced the Wildcats with 10 points off the bench as all 13 players that saw the court scored for the visitors. Lindsay Bradford scored six points and recorded a block in her first game as a Wildcat while Patricia Miranda and Callaway also scored six points in the loss. Jennifer Carr grabbed a team high six rebounds.
