The first half shooting of Goldey-Beacom proved to be too much for the Wilmington University women's basketball team, as the Lightning took the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division matchup, 91-67, on Wednesday night at the Joseph West Jones Center.

The Lightning (12-14, 11-6 CACC) shot 21-of-36 from the field in the first half, including 6-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc to jump out to an early lead. The Wildcats (8-18, 6-12 CACC) had a team high 16 points from Ebonee Dixon and 11 more from Jasmine Lee off the bench, receiving 57 of the team's 67 points from the bench.

One of the Lightning's three-pointers from the first half gave the home team its first double digit lead of the first half, 18-8, with 13:05 to play. Another three-pointer from Reighly Melochick brought the Lightning to a 40-20 lead with 4:40 remaining before the Lightning took its largest lead, 48-22, in the first half with 2:50 to play. The Wildcats cut into the deficit before the break, going on a 10-4 run to trail 52-32 at the half.

Zameria Jones put home a layup for the Wildcats with 13:10 to play to cut the deficit to 17 before hitting another layup with 11:25 to play to bring the visitors to within 62-47. But that would be as close as the Wildcats would get for the second half, as the Lightning stretched the lead out to as many as 30 before settling on the final 24-point victory.

Dixon and Lee were the only Wildcats to score in double digits while Cari Callaway and Lindsay Bradford each contributed eight points, both off the bench as well. Lee grabbed team high six rebounds while Katara Pressley pulled in five.

The Wildcats shot 40.9 percent from the floor from the game but missed all three three-pointers in the contest. The Wildcats committed 20 turnovers in the contest, leading to 17 Goldey-Beacom points. The Lightning shot 53.3 percent from the floor for the game, hitting 9-of-15 from deep, including 4-of-5 from Lexi Bruno.

Wednesday was the final road contest of the season for the Wildcats, as they return to the WU Athletics Complex for their final two games. The Wildcats round out the CACC portion of their schedule on Saturday with a doubleheader against Caldwell. The women start the afternoon with a 1 p.m. tip-off.
