PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The hot shooting of the University of the Sciences in the second quarter carried the Devils to a 72-64 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Tuesday night inside Bobby Morgan Arena.

The Wildcats (3-6, 1-1 CACC) bookended the game with outstanding quarters, grabbing a 19-14 lead after the first quarter and ending the game with a 21-11 fourth quarter against the Devils (8-2, 3-1 CACC).

But it was the middle quarters that hurt the Wildcats the most, as the Devils came out on fire to take the second quarter, 27-9, and the third quarter, 20-15.

Ebonee Dixon converted a layup to start the second quarter and give the Wildcats a 21-14 lead. But the Devils went on an 11-2 run to take a 25-23 lead with 5:50 to play in the half. USciences' Jordan Vitelli then went 4-for-4 from three-point territory the rest of the quarter, including three-straight shots to spark an 11-0 Devils run to end the quarter and take a 41-28 advantage into the locker room.

Vitelli continued her hot shooting in the third quarter, helping the Devils to as large as a 20-point lead with two more three-pointers in the frame. The Devils led by as many as 57-37 with 2:08 left in the third.

The fourth quarter started slowly for the Wildcats, but they scored nine of the first 10 points to climb to within 63-52 with 4:38 to play. An old fashioned three-point play by LaShyra Williams brought the Wildcats to within 71-62 before a Jasmine Lee runner had the visitors to as close as eight points. But it was too little too late as the Wildcats' comeback ran out of time.

Williams secured a her second double-double of the season for the Wildcats, scoring 13 points while securing a game-high 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists. Macy Robinson also scored 13 points for the Wildcats while Lee came off the bench to score 11 points.

The Devils hit 10 three-pointers in the game, shooting 43.1 percent from the field as a team. The Wildcats shot 5-of-12 from deep, but only hit 38.2 percent from the floor for the game.

The Wildcats remain in CACC play for their next contest, as they head to South Division rival Georgian Court on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
