Perfect Week For Basketball Lands LaShyra Williams and Tajee Almon on CACC Weekly Reports

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University basketball teams had a perfect week on the court, with each the men's and women's basketball teams defeating the University of the Sciences and Holy Family. Both squads were honored with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honorees, as announce by the conference office today.

The women set up each of the doubleheader sweeps with a 75-67 come-from-behind win over USciences last Tuesday and an 83-69 victory at Holy Family on Saturday. The men completed the sweeps with a 79-70 victory over USciences and an 83-70 victory at Holy Family on Saturday.

Junior LaShyra Williams paced the women and earned her second weekly honor of the season, being named the CACC Player of the Week. Senior Tajee Almon secured a pair of double-doubles in the two wins and was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Williams set the stage for the 17-point comeback against the Sciences with 15 points and seven rebounds, adding three steals and two assists as well. She shot 4-of-12 from the floor, but made 7-of-12 from the foul like. Williams then went 10-of-17 from the floor for 24 points at Holy Family, adding four steals and two assists. She shot 48.2 percent from the floor for the week, averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game.

Chesnut Hill's Shannon Glenn was named this week's Rookie of the Week while Goldey-Beacom's Britani Bryson was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the conference.

Almon has come on strong of late, securing his second and third straight double-double last week in the two wins. He posted 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 12 rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots against USciences on Tuesday. He ended his week with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, grabbing 16 rebounds (12 defensive) while adding one steal and one block as well. Almon finished shooting 12-of-15 (80 percent) from the floor for the week, averaging 14.5 points and 14 rebounds per game.

Holy Family's Dyllon Hudson-Emory was named this week's Player of the Week while Caldwell's Vaughn Covington was named the Rookie of the Week for the conference.
