Wildcats Picked Seventh in 2021-22 CACC Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University women's basketball team returns to the court for the 2021-22 season later this month and was selected seventh in the South Division of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

When last seen in 2019-20, the Wildcats went 5-22 overall and 5-14 in CACC play. The Wildcats opted out of the 2020-21 season, and will be back to action this winter starting on November 13 at Staten Island.

The Wildcats welcomed new head coach Kerry Jenkins to the program, starting his first year as head coach at the NCAA DII level this season. He spent 11 years on the sidelines at NCAA Division II Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.

The Wildcats return four student-athletes from the 2019-20 squad, including Kiara Eubanks who was third on the team in scoring 11.0 points per game and second on the team in dishing out 2.8 assists a contest. Emily Ansah was the team's second leading rebounder in grabbing 6.4 boards a game while chipping in with 7.5 points a game. Sabreen Muslim averaged 8.1 points and 5.8 rebounds a contest. Tanasia Miles returns as well after sitting out all of 2019-20 with an injury.

Dominican was picked to win the North Division with seven first place votes and 64 total points while Post picked up five first place votes and 63 total points for second. Thomas Jefferson was picked first by eight head coaches, totaling 79 points to earn the top spot in the South Division.

The Wildcats' first home game is scheduled for Saturday, December 4 against Holy Family. The opening tip is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
