NEWARK, Del. - - Jefferson came out firing from the start on its way to a 77-40 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball team on Wednesday night at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Rams (13-5, 6-3 CACC) came out and shot 52.9 percent from the floor in the first quarter and an even better 60 percent from the floor in the second quarter to gain momentum and take the CACC contest from the Wildcats (1-12, 1-7 CACC).

Jefferson scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in the game. The first quarter lead grew to as large as 15 points before the Wildcats found themselves down 23-12 at the end of the quarter.

Sabreen Muslim scored to cut the Wildcats' deficit to 35-20 late in the second quarter, but then the Rams rattled off 14 straight before Muslim converted an old-fashioned three-point play at the end of half. The Wildcats trailed 49-23 going into the break.

The defense tightened up for the Wildcats in the third quarter, only allowing the Rams to shoot 35.3 percent from the floor in the frame. The Wildcats went 4-for-7 from the floor in the quarter, but could only muster nine points in dropping behind 63-32 going into the final frame.

The lead grew to as large as 39 points in the fourth quarter before settling on the final score, 77-40.

Sabreen Muslim led the Wildcats with 13 points while shooting 6-of-10 from the floor, grabbing seven rebounds as well. Emily Ansah grabbed a team high eight rebounds while adding seven points.
