Wildcats Fall to Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - - Georgian Court shot over 60 percent in the first half, leading to a 74-45 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Wilmington University women's basketball in a makeup game on Thursday night at the Wellness Center.

With the win, Georgian Court clinched the fourth and final spot in the upcoming CACC Tournament from the South Division.

The Lions (13-12, 10-8 CACC) came out of the gates hot, shooting 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from the floor in the first quarter and 8-of-14 (57.1 percent) in the second quarter. The Lions raced out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter before ending the quarter leading 25-14.

Sabreen Muslim scored the first bucket of the second quarter to get the game back to within single digits and then Emily Ansah hit a jumper to get it to within 30-20, but then the Lions scored the next eight points and closed the quarter by scoring the final four points to lead 44-26 at the half.

Georgian Court outscored the Wildcats, 16-6, in the third quarter and again, 14-13, in the fourth quarter. The Lions took their largest lead of the game with 6:23 to play in the quarter before setting on the final score, 74-45.

Emily Ansah secured her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, adding three blocks and two steals. Sabreen Muslim came off the bench to score 12 points while adding three assists, and two rebounds. Jade Roberts scored 10 points with six rebounds as well.

The Wildcats conclude their season on Saturday afternoon as they make the short trip across town to Goldey-Beacom. The women start the doubleheader with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off inside the Joseph West Jones Center.
