WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - Jasmine McDuffie scored a career-high 27 points while hitting five three-pointers, but the Wilmington University women's basketball team dropped a nonconference contest, 90-54, at West Chester on Monday night inside Hollinger Fieldhouse.
West Chester won its first game of the season, shooting 52.2 percent from the floor while hitting 10 three-pointers. The Wildcats shot 33.3 percent from the floor, hitting 8-of-30 from deep in the game.
Jasmine McDuffie previously scored 22 points at Caldwell on February 25, 2023, while with Bloomfield College. She shot 10-for-16 from the floor, including 5-for-10 from three-point territory for 27 points, adding seven rebounds and two steals.
A Jasmine McDuffie three-pointer brought the Wildcats to within 17-13 late in the first quarter, but then the Golden Rams ended the quarter on a 7-1 run, taking a 24-14 lead into the second quarter.
The Golden Rams continued its run through the first seven minutes of the second quarter, using another 18-2 run to take a 42-16 lead with 3:12 showing on the clock. McDuffie hit two more three-pointers and Armani Bell-Jackson ended the second quarter with a pair from the foul line, ending the quarter on a 14-8 run to close to within 50-30 heading into the halftime break.
Another 7-0 run for the Golden Rams pushed their lead out to 73-43 late in the third quarter before taking a 75-45 lead into the fourth quarter and taking the 90-54 victory.
Armani Bell-Jackson came off the bench to score nine points while adding three rebounds and four assists. Emma Brown scored four points while adding six rebounds and three blocked shots. Samiyah McFarlane dished out five assists in the start.
The Wildcats return home for their next contest, hosting Staten Island on Wednesday night. The nonconference game starts at 6:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
