Wilmington Women’s Bowling Fourth Best in Nation as NTCA Announces Academic Team Awards

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - - The National Tenpin Coaches Association has announced that 36 women's bowling programs have earned the program's Academic Team Award and Wilmington University has the fourth best team grad point average across the country.

To be recognized for the team award, a program must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the academic school year. Women's bowling is not divided into three divisions like most NCAA sanctioned sports, and the Wildcats rank fourth in the country with a 3.643 team GPA.

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Felician University came in with the highest team GPA in the country, possessing a 3.741 team GPA this year. They are followed by LIU Post (3.69 GPA) and LIU Brooklyn (3.65 GPA), before Wilmington's fourth place setting. Adelphi rounds out he nation's top five programs with a 3.607 team GPA.

In addition to the team award, the Wildcats also shined with individual academic success as Alyssa Kalafut, Kaley Smith, Monique Rojas, and Rakia Jenkins all earned the NTCA Academic Individual Award for the 2016-17 school year.
