Wilmington Bowling Opens FDU Jamboree With 2-2 Baker Match Record

STRATFORD, N.J. - - In the second tournament of the season, the Wilmington University women's bowling team went 2-2 in Baker Matches at the FDU Jamboree, finishing 14th overall in pin falls heading into the weekend at 30 Strikes Lanes, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University.

The three-day tournament started with five Baker Matches on Friday, with the Wildcats averaging 164.2 pins per match, totaling 4,104 total pins to rank 14th out of 15 teams in the tournament.

The Wildcats started the afternoon with a victory over East Coast Conference foe Chestnut Hill, 774-767. After a loss to NCAA Division I Morgan State, 858-740, the Wildcats rebounded with another victory, 942-920, over NCAA Division I foe Monmouth.

Friday's competition ended with a loss to Franklin Pierce, 912-843, but the Wildcats finished with a bye, putting down 805 pins to round out their average.

Host Fairleigh Dickinson leads the pack with a total pin fall of 4,945, averaging 197.8 pins per match. FDU went 4-1 on the afternoon, bowling two matches over 1,000 pins. Sacred Heart was the only team to go 5-0 on the day, putting down 4,928 total pins for a 197.1 average. Monmouth went 3-2 overall with 4,825 total pins with a 193-pin average to round out the top three.

The FDU Jamboree continues with five traditional matches on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats will square off against NCAA Division I foes Howard, St. Francis (N.Y.), Bethune-Cookman, Sacred Heart, and ECC opponent Felician.
