STRATFORD, N.J. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team dropped a pair of bracketed baker matches on Sunday, closing the FDU Jamboree in 15th place in their second tournament of the 2017-18 season.

In the best-of-seven baker format, the Wildcats fell to Howard, 4-3, before dropping a 4-1 matchup with Bethune-Cookman to end their tournament.

After winning a close 187-186 game to open their match against Howard, the Wildcats dropped the next three games to fall behind, 3-1. The team's highest scoring game came at the most opportune time, as they took the fifth game, 225-182. They then forced a game-seven, fighting back to take the sixth game, 178-160. But the Bison held on down the stretch, taking the seventh game, 156-135, dropping the Wildcats down a bracket.

The Wildcats couldn't get doing in the match against Bethune-Cookman, only scoring 135 and 134 pins in the first two games, respectively. They got on the board with a 167-155 victory in the third, but Bethune-Cookman got to within a game for the win with taking the fourth, 182-166. Bethune-Cookman then won the match, 132-113.

Sacred Heart defeated host Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-2, in the championship match on Sunday. The top NCAA Division II team finished third overall, as Adelphi defeated Monmouth, 4-1.

Bailey Peters led the Wildcats and finished tied for ninth overall individually with a 196.80 average in traditional matches. Rachel Hirst was 22nd overall with a 184.00 average while Clare Chaffer finished 34th overall with a 175.40 average.

The Wildcats are off for the rest of November, but return when hosting their own Wildcat DII Invitational starting on December 1. The three-day tournament will be hosted at the Bowlerama in New Castle, Delaware.
