Women’s Bowling Wraps Up Regular Season at Molloy College Invitational

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. - - The steady improvement of the Wilmington University women's bowling team in year two of existence culminated in a pair of separate Baker Match Tournaments to round out the 2017-18 regular season at the Molloy College Invitational at the AMF Plainview Lanes on Saturday and Sunday.

The Wildcats finished sixth out of 10 teams in Saturday's five Baker Matches while leading most of the afternoon on Sunday before finishing fourth overall in five more Baker Matches.

On Saturday, the team went 1-4 in Baker Matches, defeating New Jersey City, 903-741, with a day's high score.

The Wildcats came out hot on Sunday, defeating Medaille, St. Peter's, Molloy and St. Thomas Aquinas in their first four matches. They led the pack of 10 teams through their first four matches, picking up scores of 908, 861, 908, and 815. They dropped the final match of the day to Franklin Pierce, 878-766, to drop to fourth in the final standings.

Rachel Hirst led the Wildcats with a second straight All-Tournament Team selection on Sunday, finishing with an 18.82 Baker Frame Average. Hirst went 20-for-21 on single pin spare conversions on Sunday as well.

Bailey Peters bowling an 18.02 Baker frame average while Clare Chaffer finished with a 17.18 Baker frame average. Malia Stout was fourth on the team with a 16.20 Baker frame average while Sinoda Cook rounded out the Wildcats with a 15.22 Baker frame average.

Although the regular season is complete, the Wildcats will compete in the East Coast Conference Tournament to wrap up the 2017-18 schedule. The first day of the postseason tournament starts on Friday, March 23 at Port Jeff Bowl in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.
