Women’s Bowling Earns NTCA All-Academic Team Award; Four Individuals Honored

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team continues to make a splash with finishing its second season as a program, being a recipient of the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Team Award, as well as four student-athletes being named NTCA All-Academic for the 2017-18 academic year.

In order to be considered an NTCA All-Academic honoree, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher throughout the 2017-18 academic year. The Wildcats possess a 3.364 team GPA, ranking 25th among all NCAA bowling programs. An NTCA record total of 38 bowling programs achieved a team GPA of 3.2 or higher, led by Spalding University's 3.811 team GPA. East Coast Conference mates Felician (3.719) and Adelphi (3.633) are ranked second and third, respectively, in the nation.

Individually, the Wildcats had four student-athletes earn a spot on the NTCA All-Academic Team. Senior Kaley Smith (Criminal Justice), along with freshman Leah Henry (Health Science), Rachel Hirst (Psychology), and Malia Stout (Behavioral Science) all got it done in the classroom for the Wildcats.

The NTCA had a record 268 student-athlete honorees this season, representing NCAA bowling programs at 55 schools.
