Women’s Bowling Begins 10-Tournament Slate in October

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team took a step forward in 2017-18 in their second year of existence, but head coach John York will now ask even more of his team as he announced the 2018-19 bowling schedule.

Now in their third year as a program, the Wildcats will compete in nine regular season tournaments, including hosting one at Bowlerama in New Castle, before heading to the East Coast Conference Bowling Championship at the end of March.

The season starts in familiar fashion, as the Wildcats will head to the Bud Whitman Memorial tournament hosted by Kutztown University, a place they will visit numerous times throughout 2018-19. The season opening tournament will take place from October 13-14 at the Berks Lane in Sinking Spring, Pa.

The Wildcats will remain in Pennsylvania for their next tournament and will head to the Sunshine Lanes in Waynesboro to take part in the Mount Shootout hosted by Mount St. Mary's from October 20-21.

November starts with a three-day tournament at Virginia Union in Glen Allen, Va., before the Wildcats host their own three-day tournament at the end of the month and beginning of December.

The second annual Wildcat DII Invitational will begin on Friday, November 30 and conclude on December 2 at the Bowlerama in New Castle, Del.

Following the winter break, the Wildcats will get back to action with their lone tournament of January, again heading to Kutztown to take part in the KU Invitational in Limerick, Pa. the three-day tournament will take part from January 18-20.

February will feature three tournaments, first with the Bowl for the KUre in Douglassville, Pa., on February 2-3, before the Wildcats will take part in the Golden Bear Classic in Sinking Spring, Pa., from February 8-10. The month rounds out with the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State University in Towson, Md., from February 15-17.

The final regular season tournament of the year will take place from March 1-3 at the Hawk Flight Invite. The Wildcats will head to the King Pin Bowling in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., hosted by Monmouth University.

The ECC Championship is set for March 22-24 in Reading, Pa., again hosted by Kutztown University. The postseason event will take place at the Hiester Lanes with the winner automatically advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
