Wildcats Set New Traditional Match Record on Day 2 at KU Invitational

LIMERICK, Pa. - - The Wilmington University bowling team went 1-4 in Traditional Matches on Saturday, knocking down 4,549 total pins for a 9,232 two-day total to sit in 21st heading into bracket play at the KU Invitational.

The Wildcats sit in 21st overall and will play Kutztown in on Sunday to begin a best-of-seven baker bracket contest. The Wildcats could advance to finish in 19th overall with three wins on Sunday.

Saturday started with a victory for the Wildcats, as they defeated St. Francis (Pa.), 911-880. Clare Chaffer led the Wildcats in the victory with a game of 214.

Rachel Hirst led a trio of Wildcats that bowled a 200-game in the Wildcats second match of the day, bowling a 252 against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Bailey Peters bowled a 211 while Malia Stout knocked down 202 pins, but the Wildcats fell to UMES, 1,023-984, setting a new program record for a single Traditional Match.

The Wildcats then dropped matches to Fairleigh Dickinson, 978-884, Duquesne, 894-858, and to St. Francis (N.Y.) in the final match of the day, 972-912.

Rachel Hirst led the Wildcats with a 197.60 average, bowling games of 172-252-202-159-203 for a day's total of 988. She finished 34th overall out of 182 bowlers.

Malia Stout finished 64th overall with a 185.80 average, bowling games of 170-202-181-183-193 for a 929 total. Clare Chaffer finished 81st overall with a 178.40 average, bowling games of 214-153-191-158-176 for an 892 total. Bailey Peters finished with a 173.20 average with a total of 866 total pins, bowling games of 174-211-141-201-139.

Jocelyn Hood finished 117 overall while bowling in four matches on Saturday, finishing with 673 total pins. She bowled the first four matches of the day, knocking down games of 181-166-169-157. Sinoda Cook bowled the final game of the day with a 201 against St. Francis (N.Y.).

Arkansas State leads the KU Invite with a 209.4 average through Saturday while knocking down 5,311 pins on Saturday. Stephen F. Austin State is in second place with a 205.7 average while Fairleigh Dickinson is in third overall with a 199.6 average through the first two days.

Stephen F. Austin's Dakotah Hazlewood led tournament with a 242.40 average through five matches, bowling games of 214-230-237-257-274. UMES' Brigitte Jacobs is second overall with a 236.60 average with a day's high of 257.
