Wildcats Go 3-2, Place 10th at Golden Bear Classic

SINKING SPRING, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team went 3-2 in Baker format matches on Saturday, finishing 10th overall with a day's total of 4,409 pins at the Golden Bear Classic at Berks Lane.

The 10th place finish sets them up for a rematch against Roberts Wesleyan in the first match of Baker Bracket Play on Sunday. The Wildcats have a chance to finish as high as seventh overall with three wins in the best of seven Baker Bracket format.

Saturday started with an 100-pin win over New Jersey City, 829-729. The Wildcats narrowly fell to Roberts Wesleyan, 872-839, before bouncing back with their best performance of the day in a 934-802 victory over Norfolk State. St. Francis (Pa.) defeated the Wildcats, 984-921, in the fourth match of the day before the Wildcats finished off the afternoon with an impressive 886-767 victory over Walsh.

LIU Brooklyn leads the tournament with a final total of 4,787 pins on Saturday, going 4-1. They had the highest total of the day in their first match, knocking down 1,041 pins. Adelphi is second with 4,760 pins followed by Duquesne in third with 4,746 pins.

The Wildcats also competed in five Baker Matches in a single-day tournament on Friday, finishing 2-3 in head-to-head records, but fifth overall with a total of 4,580 pins.

The Wildcats started Friday with their best showing of the day, defeating Mount St. Mary's, 952-927. The team lost to Morgan State, 999-921, before defeating Coppin State, 907-871. Friday ended with back-to-back losses to Duquesne and LIU Brooklyn, 936-865 and 943-935, respectively.

The Wildcats square off against Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday and will play three Bracket Baker matches.
