Women’s Bowling Sets New Baker Match Record, Goes 3-1 at James Brown Invitational

TOWSON, Md. - - The Wilmington University bowling team set a new team Baker Match record on Saturday, competing in the first day of the James Brown Invitational at the AMF Town Lanes in Towson, Md., hosted by Morgan State.

The Wildcats set a new Baker Match program record in their lone loss on Friday, knocking down 1,027 pins in a contest against nationally sixth ranked University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Wildcats went 3-1 in head-to-head matches on the day, falling in only the final match.

The Wildcats started with a win against Bowie State, 884-828, before defeating Virginia State in the second game, 868-789. In a bye match, the Wildcats knocked down 828 pins before coming back and defeating Morgan State, 934-898.

Friday ended with the program record, knocking down 1,027 pins in a loss to Maryland Eastern Shore. The Wildcats only lost to nationally No. 6 UMES by one pin in the Friday nightcap.

The Wildcats will play St. Francis (N.Y.), #23 Duquesne, Howard, Coppin State, and #12 Delaware State on Saturday in Traditional Matches.
