Women’s Bowling Fairs Well on Day One of ECC Championships; in 5th Place Heading into Double Elimination

READING, Pa. - - On the first day of the 2019 East Coach Conference (ECC) Bowling Championships, the Wilmington University bowling team had four matches over 900 pins, going 2-3 and sitting in fifth place after five Baker Matches.

The Wildcats put down 4,770 total pins on the day, averaging 190.8 pins per match. They finished the Baker Matches only 22 pins out of third place overall.

With the performance on Friday, the Wildcats enter the double elimination portion of the tournament awaiting the winner of No. 12 Bloomfield and No. 13 St. Thomas Aquinas for their first match at 10:30 a.m. The winner of that match will square off against No. 4 Chestnut Hill at 12:10 p.m.

The Wildcats started hot on Friday, coming out of the games with a score of 997 in a win over Caldwell. The Wildcats then went over the millennium mark in their next match, putting together their second best Baker Match in program history with a 1,013-906 victory over LIU Post.

Wilmington had its worst showing of the afternoon in a 906-862 loss to Kutztown, but bounced back nicely in their final two matches to put them in fifth overall.

Despite losing to defending ECC Champion Lincoln Memorial, the Wildcats posted a score of 918 to keep their momentum rolling (935-918). The day ended with another great game, despite losing to Chestnut Hill, 1,040-980.
