READING, Pa. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team took a step forward in the 2019 ECC Championship, but was eliminated on Saturday and finished in seventh place in the postseason tournament.

In the double eliminate portion of the tournament, the fifth seeded Wildcats came out and defeated 12th seeded Bloomfield, 4-1, with a match best 216 in the fourth game.

Advancing to play to fourth seeded Chestnut Hill, the Wildcats tied the match, 1-1, with a 203-151 win in game two, but the Griffins fought back to take the next three games (181-167, 170-168, and 170-167) to take the match, 4-1.

The Wildcats stayed alive with a 4-0 victory over Daemen, posting scores of 214, 194, 224, and 190 in a battle of the Wildcats.

Looking to keep their ECC Championship going, the Wildcats ran into host Kutztown with the final eight teams remaining. The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 216, 149 victory in game one, but then couldn't find the magic combination again as Kutztown took the next four games (174-141, 189-147, 173-151, 211-188) to win the match, 4-1.

Last season, the Wildcats went 0-2 in the double elimination portion of the ECC Championship, improving to 2-2 this year in only the third year of the women's bowling program.

The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 54-54 head-to-head record on the year.
