Women’s Bowling’s CC Riojas Named ECC Rookie of the Week

 

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – For The first time this season, the Wilmington University women's bowling team earned an East Coast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the ECC Conference Office on Thursday.

Freshman CC Riojas earned ECC Bowling Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career after having the fourth highest frame average in the ECC last week while competing at the Mount Shootout. In Baker format, she had a frame average of 20.47, which was second best in the conference. In traditional format, Riojas set a new personal mark with a 929, averaging a 185.80. She bowled games of 204, 171, 178, 193, and 205 to finish 15th overall.

Wilmington had their best finish in a field as big as the Mount Shootout in program history, where they finished third overall as a team after qualifying fourth in the Traditional and Baker matches.

The Wildcats are off for one weekend, before heading to Bowl America Short Pump for the Virginia Union Invitational in Glen Allen, Va., the weekend of November 1-3.
