Women’s Bowling Starts 2021-21 Season by Finishing 3-2 and in Second Place During Baker Matches at Bud Whitman Memorial

WILMINGTON, Del. - - A second place finish is how the Wilmington University women's bowling team started the 2021-22 season on Saturday, competing at the Bud Whitman Memorial while going 3-2 in baker format matches hosted by Chestnut Hill at Bowlerama.

The Wildcats finished second out of six teams, finishing with a total pin fall of 4,574 (183.0 average). Mount St. Mary's went 5-0 and had a total pinfall of 4,844 (193.8 average) on Saturday. The Wildcats tied ECC competitor Caldwell with a 3-2 record and a total pinfall of 4,574, but the Wildcats defeated the Cougars head-to-head throughout the day.

The season started with a head-to-head win over Felician, 859-695, and then the Wildcats followed that up with a win over Chestnut Hill, 946-743. Mount St. Mary's narrowly defeated the Wildcats, 952-947, but then the Wildcats bounced back with their highest pinfall of the day with a 968-905 victory over Caldwell. The final baker match was against Kutztown where the Wildcats fell, 903-854, to the Golden Bears.

The Wildcats are back at it on Sunday, competing in traditional matches to wrap up the Bud Whitman Memorial at Bowlerama.
