Wildcats Place Fourth at 2022 Red Flash Invitational after 1-2 Bracket Sunday

ALTOONA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University bowling team finished in fourth place at the 2022 Red Flash Invitational, going 1-2 in bracket play on Sunday inside the Holiday Bowl.

The Wildcats headed into Baker Bracket play in fourth place and was able to win the middle match to play for third overall. But the Wildcats fell to Walsh twice on Sunday, falling to fourth place overall.

In the opener, the Wildcats tied the match with Walsh, 1-1, with a game two close win, 139-138, but the Cavaliers swept the next three games to take the match, 4-1.

The Wildcats then played Felician in the middle round and battled back from an early deficit. The Golden Falcons took the first game, 147-124, but then the Wildcats won out, winning 172-159, 171-170, 177-166, and 176-162, to win the match, 4-1, and advance to the Third Place match.

Wilmington was set for the rematch against Walsh and took a 2-1 lead, winning game two, 182-151, and game three, 179-147. But the Wildcats couldn't keep the momentum as the Cavaliers came back and won the next three games to take the match, 4-2.

Morgan State defeated host St. Francis (Pa.), 4-1, to claim the Red Flash Invitational Championship.

The Wildcats return to familiar territory for the next two tournaments, as they will be bowling on the lanes at Bowlerama at the Griffin Baker Classic and then the Wildcat DII Invitational. The two-day Griffin Baker Classic, hosted by Chestnut Hill at Bowlerama, will begin on Saturday morning.
