Carolece Henry Named CACC Rookie of the Year as Four Earn Bowling All-CACC Honors

NEWARK, Del. - - In preparation for the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship this weekend, the conference office has announced the All-CACC Teams, with the Wilmington University bowling team having four student-athletes earning honors, including freshman Carolece Henry being voted the CACC Rookie of the Year. 

In addition to Henry being voted the CACC Rookie of the Year, she was voted Second Team All-CACC. Joining her on the All-CACC teams are Desiree Dent and KC Miller being named First Team All-CACC and Sydney Jones being named Second Team All-CACC.

Henry ranks among the CACC leaders in several categories including overall scoring average (7th, 18.242), 6th in overall frame fill percentage (77.9%), 9th in traditional format scoring average (18.088), traditional format frame fill percentage (8th, 77.1%), 6th in baker format scoring average (18.340) and 4th in baker format frame fill percentage (78.4%). She had a season high 20.12 Baker frame average at the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite and season high 20.38 Traditional frame average at the same tournament. She was a two-time CACC Rookie of the Week during the season.

Desiree Dent led the team with an 18.84 frame average on the year, going even better to 19.02 in traditional scoring. She had a season's best 21.15 frame average in traditional scoring at the New Jersey Open, finishing ninth overall with a six-game total of 1,269 (211.50 average). She had a season's best 20.38 Baker frame average at the Golden Bear Classic. She compiled a strikes percentage of 40.8 on the season, raising that average to 42.2 percent on traditional matches. She also converted on 67.7 percent of her spare attempts this year. Dent was named to the Seahawk Invitational All-Tournament Team for finishing fifth overall.

KC Miller is the only Wildcat to be recognized for a second straight year, after being named Third Team All-East Coast Conference a season ago. She was second on the team with an 18.59 frame average for the year, doing slightly better in traditional matches with an 18.79 frame average. Miller had two tournaments in which she finished with a 20+ Baker frame average, with her best coming at the Bud Whitman Memorial with a 20.16 average. She also produced a 20.07 Baker frame average at the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite. She had two tournaments with a 21+ Traditional frame average, with her season best coming at the Wildcat DII-DIII Invite where she bowled a 21.58 frame average and earned All-Tournament Team for a fifth-place finish. She also posted a 21.55 frame average at the New Jersey Open, finishing fifth as well to earn All-Tournament Team again. She is carrying a 41.0 strike percentage into the playoffs.

Sydney Jones earned Second Team All-CACC after finishing fourth on the team with an 18.18 frame average, raising that to 18.42 per frame in traditional matches. She had a season's best 22.52 per frame average at the New Jersey Open, where she finished second overall with a 1,351 six-match total for a 225.17 game average, landing a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Jones also had a 20.76 frame average at the Seahawk Invite, finishing second overall with a 1,038 five-match total for a 207.60 average. She had a 37.9 strike percentage coupled with a 64 percent spare conversion.

Chestnut Hill's Maddie Gannon was named the CACC Bowler of the Year while Caldwell's Ken Yokobosky was voted as the CACC Coach of the Year. The Wildcats led the league with four All-CACC student-athletes.

The major award winners and all-conference honorees will be recognized at tonight's CACC Women's Bowling Championship Banquet on the Chestnut Hill College campus. The inaugural CACC Women's Bowling Championship will be held this Friday-Sunday at Our Town Alley in East Norriton, Pa.
